Artist Showcase | Yixuan Ruan

Yixuan Ruan was born in Beijing, China in 1973. From the age of 15, she trained as a professional artist at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts. Yixie lives and works in Cairns, Queensland. 

Yixie’s works explore the beauty of nature, flora and femininity, using both natural Chinese painting materials and digital media.  Inspired by the elegance of ancient Chinese painting techniques, she applies oriental narrative logic to express contemporary ideas. 

Yixie’s work has been included in several exhibitions in Cairns, including Year of the Monkey (with Hayley Gillespie), at the Cairns Art Gallery in 2016.
