Artist Showcase | Paul Bindur-Bullin Bong

Clan group: Yidinji
Language group: Bindur Bullin

Paul Bong was born in Cairns, Queensland, in 1963. He lives and works in Innisfail, Queensland.

Paul’s paintings and prints are inspired by the stories of his grandmother who spoke Yidinji and taught him the stories and legends of the rainforest.

Paul’s works incorporate traditional designs with modern techniques, and each design has its own specific spiritual meaning. He first exhibited in 2003 and since then he has completed a number of public art commissions, including works for the Cairns Regional Council and Brisbane International Airport.

His work is represented in public and private collections, including the National Museum of Australia, Canberra; Parliament House, Canberra; and the Cairns Art Gallery, Queensland.
