Artist Showcase | Jenny Fraser

Clan group: Yugambeh
Language group: Migunburri

Jenny Fraser was born in Mareeba, Queensland, in 1971. She is a celebrated screen artist and member of the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-Operative.

Jenny’s work is issue based. She often takes iconic and everyday symbols of Australian life and places them in contexts that question the value of what they seem to represent. Through her filmic work, she applies controlled humour while carefully unpicking the fabric of everyday life in order to expose inherent contradictions, lies and absurdities.

Jenny’s work has been exhibited and screened nationally and internationally, and she is the recipient of numerous art awards.
