Artist Showcase | Lynette Griffiths

Lynnette Griffiths was born in 1963 in Stratford on Avon, UK. She currently lives and works in Cairns, Queensland, and Erub (formerly Darnley Island) in the Torres Strait.

Lynnette works across a range of media, including sculpture, ceramics, multimedia and textiles. Her works are based on extensive research and observation of the reef and marine life of Far North Queensland. Using ghost nets and found objects she creates sculptural works and installations that comment on human exploitation and misuse of the fragile marine environment.

Lynnette has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas and her works are held in numerous collections including the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney; National Museum of Australia, Canberra; Le Havre Museum, France; and Museum Sa Bassa Blanca, Mallorca, Spain.
