Gertrude Davis (formerly Ygosse) is a photographer and media presenter who was born in Mossman, Queensland, and grew up on the Atherton Tablelands.

Gertrude studied photography and film making before working as a documentary photographer. In 2010, her series of silver gelatin photographs of Mona Mona women weavers was exhibited at UMI Arts Gallery, Cairns and later she created a new series of photographs entitled Caught in a Bushfire 2011. These were exhibited in the 2019 Cairns Art Gallery exhibition entitled Queen’s Land: Blak Portraiture late 19th century to the present. In the same year, Gertrude was selected for the Cairns Art Gallery’s biennial showcasing exhibition, ARTNOW FNQ, that brings together emerging and established, Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists in a dialogue about ideas relating to nature, place, environments, identity, politics and history.

Gertrude’s work is represented in several public collections, including the Queensland State Archives and the North Queensland Land Council.
