Daniel Shane was born in 1990 in Cairns, Queensland, where he lives and work. He is a young emerging artist who has developed his own unique minar, or traditional patterning style that draws on his ancestral Islander and mainland Aboriginal heritages.

The fusion of his two ancestral cultures in his artwork is representative of a growing art movement in Far North Queensland. He is a proficient printmaker and often incorporates warr, a form of symbolic patterning, as a rich backdrop for the characters whose stories he recounts in his prints.

Daniel has been the recipient of several national print awards, and his work is held in national and international collections, including the Cairns Art Gallery, Queensland.
