Daisy Hamlot (nee Bowen) was born in 1937 at Cape Bedford, Queensland. She was five years old when she and her family were forcibly removed from Cape Bedford and interned at Woorabinda Settlement during WW II because the Australian Government considered the Lutheran missions in Cape York, Queensland, a threat to national security.

Daisy lives and works in the remote Indigenous community of Hope Vale, Queensland. It is here that she discovered her love of painting, especially painting portraits of her pet dogs, 7-0 and Granny-Boy. Daisy is an active member of the HopeVale Art Centre and belongs to the local Gamba Gamba (senior women group). Her paintings are inspired by Guugu Yimithirr Warra culture, as well as contemporary and mission-time stories told to her as a child. As a respected senior Elder, Daisy has a deep cultural knowledge of family kinship systems, sacred sites, and language.

She is represented by the HopeVale Arts & Cultural Centre, Queensland.
