Eunice McAllister grew up on Scotland Island, which is situated in the Pittwater Estuary, 33 kilometres north of Sydney, Australia. For 25 years the island and its abundance of fish, algae, insects, trees, weeds and other life forms have been a source of fascination and wonderment that in later life became the subject matter for her arts practice.

Digital media, especially photoshop, became a medium that allowed her to creatively catalogue the natural world around her, as well as create an imagined world populated with hybrid plants and creatures that could co-exist in her mind with the with the real world around her. Over time, landscape features, especially rocks, have become a source of deep fascination and the creation of real and imagined landscapes that have increasingly dominated her arts practice. Most recently the artist has turned to book making, incorporating text with elaborate illustrations to create landscapes where no one has or ever will set foot.
